Lithuania will be presented from the view of hot air balloon flight in World Expo 2010, which will be held in Shanghai, China, this year. Such a concept of national pavilion was proposed by company “Ekspobalta”, and the Ministry of Environment has assessed it as the best.

The motto of the project F-LY Lithuania (called "Fly, Lithuania). Reduction of LY (Lima-Yanki) is a Lithuanian aviation call sign. It must be used by each aircraft, helicopter, balloon and so on, registered in the country (for example, LY-MIN, LY-WIN). Adding the letter “F” obtains the English word “fly”. The sign will bring the message of a new green and flowering Lithuanian cities to China and all the World.

"We believe the implication of this knowledge to China and the world is currently one of the most pressing - a growing industry, increasing traffic volumes, pollution, population density and rapid urbanization are major causes of humanity environmental problems", - say Kestutis Petronis and Saulius Vilius - the authors of the project.

The organizers of the exhibition promises to present not just Old Vilnius, protected by UNESCO, but also Lithuania's experience in areas such as urban development (Vilnius is one of the greenest and fastest growing capital cities and in Europe), ecology (Nida and seaside), the development of modern urban architecture (skyscrapers, harmonious entering the architectural forms, etc.), industrial urban development, etc.

"What is common for the cities in Lithuania? They are green, flowering, and youthful” - is written in the project. - In particular, it is clearly visible from hot air balloon.

This feeling will be conveyed to the visitors by using Lithuanian hot air balloon flight simulation. Balloon is not a random choice, Lithuania is one of the leading in the world in the number of balloons, and Vilnius is one of the few European capitals, where is allowed to fly balloons."
